SUCCESSION
As I was taking a break while swimming laps at a public pool, there were two kids playing nearby and my ears perked up when I heard one aggressively say, “If you try and touch my pool noodle again you’ll have a closed casket funeral!”
WOW!” I thought to myself, “Kids are wild!” I chuckled and went back to swimming.
After a while, taking another break, the same kid splashes at a lady’s feet standing by the pool, “If you splash me again, I’ll beat you within an inch of your life,” she yelled. “Well that’s definitely his mother,” I thought.
Never in my life have I gotten the chance to see generations of a family so clearly in one moment. I suddenly felt so much sympathy for this kid because I knew if he doesn’t do the work to wash his hands of what was passed down to him, he’ll pass down more of the same.
