PERFECTION

I once submitted 3 pieces in a contest and won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (humble brag), I was excited for about 20 minutes and then all I could think of were the mistakes I made in each one. I literally did the best one could do, but after 40 minutes had passed I was convinced that the judges obviously weren’t qualified because they made a huge mistake. Perfection is a thief that convinces you it’s helping you succeed, but drowns you with its unquenchable thirst. Happiness and satisfaction will forever be off in the distance. I have tons of projects that have never seen the light of day because they weren’t “perfect,” and I think often of how many opportunities I have missed because of it. The quest for perfection can stretch across many different areas of life, don’t let it drown you.
