ANXIETY
“It’s not real” I say as I constrict my body to stay in the shrinking beam of light. “Suck it up!” Logically I know there is nothing in the darkness. I feel like a child again, with monsters under my bed. “You’re a grown up!” But every alarm in my body is going off. It may not be real, no one can see it, it may be illogical but it’s getting harder to breathe. Panic sets in and every fiber of my body is saying run but also don’t you dare move, as the light slowly gets smaller and smaller.
“It’s just a trip to the grocery store Michael, why do you do this?” I think, as I abandon my cart and leave without any of the things I need.
